Discover Lough Earn’s Islands, castles, Myths and fairies
A 7 Day Adventure covering over 60 ml off paddling you will be traveling through the cultural and historical strata of Irish history
While you try to take in the ever changing view as we weave our way though the maze of Islands each used and maintained in different ways you will be surprised what you can find on the Islands of lough Earn (I dare not tell you for it would spoil the surprise,) the 2nd half of the trip we explore the lower lough where it opens out to give what can be challenging paddling if conditions are against you but some of the most idyllic paddling and postcard views when its not
As your Guide I come with 25 years of coaching and guiding experience as well as having worked for several years on lough Earn , I will be able to help you get the most out of your days both on and off the water
Normally you would have a 12+ hour drive in a mini Bus towing a trailer before we arrive in Fermanagh
However we have decided to have everyone fly in-to N Ireland, you will be taken care off once there, with Airport transfers to and from Fermanagh
you will need to make flight arrangements to arrive at Belfast International Airport we ask you try to get a morning flight so we can arrange pick up for your group for mid day, by private mini bus which will take you to meet up with us in Fermanagh
We are happy to transport over any luggage/kit for you when we travel over ourselves to save you having to check it in when flying, You will need to arrange to drop it of with us in Shrewsbury at lest a week before we depart
You will need little experience for this trip. The first full day paddling is in essence a loop trip returning to the bothy for the night, so there is no pressure, and gives you time to master your boat and get coaching in efficient forward paddling and steering.
Each day you will find an improvement in your paddling skills as the trip progresses
Having a basic level of fitness is useful to allow you to both enjoy and finish the trip as planned.
Due to different dietary requirements these days we leave you to be self sufficient food wise
there is opportunity from day 3 onwards to stock up with fresh supplies if you need.
We can provide stoves and cook ware, if needed.
Your Accommodation over the week will be a mix of Island bothys, island camping
You will need to bring your own two man tent, sleeping bags and mats. We do offer the hire of tents & mats
We finish with two nights in lovely riverside Cottages to refresh and revive ourselves with a free day to explore locally before we head back
